Inaugral Duke of Edinbugh Awards Expedition

Tue, 14 Jun 2016

On a very wet Saturday morning in May 5 intrepid pupils and some hardy staff set out to complete the first ever Springfield School Duke of Edinburgh Awards expedition. In the capable hands of charity Adventure Plus the adventurers set off for a 2 day canoeing trip down the River Thames from Lechlade to Radcot Bridge, stopping overnight to camp.

Setting off in canoes

The weather steadily improved, as did the canoeing.

All in all, it was a very successful first trip. Our thanks go to Adventure Plus whose expertise made the expedition possible and to the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme who have been incredibly supportive. We hope this will be the first of many expeditions!

Happy faces at the end!

We had a fun-tastic time at Legoland!

Thanks to The Rotary Club of Witney the secondary pupils enjoyed a fun day out at Legoland last week!

Fun at Legoland

Every year our secondary school pupils are offered a chance to enjoy a day out together at Legoland in Windsor through the kind support of The Rotary Club. We are even joined by several Rotarian volunteers who help support the class teams. We are really grateful for their on-going support and would like to say a massive THANK YOU!

Even if some of us did get rather wet!
