A big day out in London for Tim's class

Thu, 26 Jan 2017

Tim's class had a fantastic trip to London this week.

Standing on Westminster Bridge

They took in the sights of Buckingham Palace (they waved to the Queen but she was busy signing things) and Trafalgar Square (Tim was sure one of the lions winked at him but no-one believed him!). After parking up on The Southbank they all enjoyed a picnic lunch under The London Eye.

Next they walked over Westminster Bridge to The Houses of Parliament. They enjoyed a fantastic tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as Westminser Hall. At the end of the tour they were met by West Oxfordshire MP, Robert Courts, who told them all about life as an MP.

What a brilliant day and fab experience for all the pupils involved!

A Very Special Concert

Mon, 23 Jan 2017

Nicola and Berit’s class were very excited to walk to Wood Green to attend a concert by ‘Music for Autism’ last Wednesday. As the musicians started playing their instruments, we listened carefully to the classical music and enjoyed the lovely melodies. The chairs were positioned very close to the performers and we almost felt like part of the band.

Some pupils even had a go at conducting, while others danced and moved around as the music was playing. We had fun playing the drum to the music and some children were pretending to play themselves using the plastic tubes that were handed out. Maybe we have some future musicians in our class!

It was great fun and we would like to thank ‘Music for Autism’ for coming to play for us and everybody else at Springfield.

Christmas fun!

Mon, 9 Jan 2017

It may be dismal January but Claire and Sam's class are still enjoying the warm glow of Christmas memories! Throughout December they had lots of fun celebrating and getting ready for Christmas. The classroom was a hive of exciting activities, including making Christmas cards, creating snow scenes and painting wreaths.

And of course it wouldn't be Christmas without mince pies so plenty of those were made (and eaten!) too!

But the best bit? Well, the snowball fight with pretend snow was lots of fun but it has to have been meeting Father Christmas and getting presents!

Now it's January though and back to some serious work... just as soon as we've finished up the last of the mince pies, oh and maybe just one more snowball fight!
